DIGITAL RADIO IN CENTRAL OREGON

The use of existing and new digital modes is growing gradually in Central Oregon. Packet radio is alive and well with many skilled users in this area. The WINLINK system is growing with many new users putting the needed equipment and software in place for AIRMAIL and PACLINK.

Digital modes are being incorporated into ARES and SAR activities. With a radio, tnc, and laptop computer you can now keep in touch with email over the internet from remote locations by using local RMS packet gateways.

APRS helps keep track of moving vehicles using the digipeater on Grizzly Mountain. ARPS will soon be incorporated into ARES activities to help manage resources.

DX enthusiasts are adopting digital modes and DX contests world wide are encouraging digital contacts.

New web pages will be added to this website to help you get started in the many digital modes and keep you informed about the digital resources in this area.
